Preparing for Life After High School at Lakeside High School
The Arc of Spokane’s Advocacy & Family Support is excited to announce a one-evening version of Preparing for Life After High School!
The Preparing for Life After High School program is designed to help parents navigate the sometimes-complex support system for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and create a richer life for their child. During this workshop, we will give you the tools to support your child in living a life filled with dignity, choice, and opportunity! Learn from a team of experts who will continue to be available for support and helpful resources through graduation and beyond. It’s never too early to start thinking about next steps, so parents of students 14 and up are encouraged to attend.
Topics Include:
Intro to person-centered planning
The importance of self-advocacy
Legislative issues relevant to people with IDD and their families
Supported decision making
Alternatives to guardianship
Understanding DDA and SSI
Parent/caregiver supports
Transition programs/Adulting 101
Supported employment
Healthy relationships
Separate activities for young adults and siblings will be provided - feel free to bring them along!
Registration for the event is required, as there is limited space. Dinner will be provided for all!

In celebration of Developmental Disability Awareness Month, the Spokane Velocity is hosting a special DD Awareness Month game with Side by Side. Come and enjoy a soccer game and meet with some organizations in Spokane who serve people with DD. Discounted tickets are available!

Outsider Art at the Chase Gallery Opening Reception
Art is universal. This exhibition showcases artists with disabilities from the Pacific Northwest, celebrating their creativity while promoting inclusion and inspiring our community. Through their work, we bridge the disability divide, fostering a deeper understanding of art’s power to connect us all.
This exhibit is on display March 7-31.
Indaba Coffee Roasters x Fortunata Tattoo Studio DD Awareness Month Fundraiser
For Indaba Cares on Friday, March 7, 10% of sales from Indaba Coffee Roasters will go to The Arc of Spokane in celebration of Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month! This includes in-store and online sales.
Fortunata Tattoo Studio is also donating 10% of sales from their First Friday flash event on March 7 from noon-8 p.m. to The Arc of Spokane! Indaba is giving away a free coffee coupon for everyone who gets one of the flash designs during the event.

Maple Street Bistro DD Awareness Month Fundraiser
Grab a coffee and a sandwich from Maple Street Bistro and support The Arc of Spokane! On Saturday, March 1, 10% of all shop sales go directly to The Arc of Spokane in celebration of Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month!

TYAP Winter Socials: Music Night

We will listen to music, or even create our own with the Community Center's collection of instruments. Feel free to bring your own instruments as well!
Valentine's Sweetheart Dance
Dress up in as much pink and purple you can find and get ready to kickstart your heart at The Arc Community Center's Valentine's Sweetheart dance! This dance will be facilitated by trained staff at The Arc, including the amazing DJ Justin!
Light snacks and drinks will be provided. Dressing up is optional but encouraged!
Community Center members attending the day program may stay past 3 pm to attend the event. Pre-registration is preferred so we know how many dancers to expect.
Tickets are $10 each.

How can I get the support I need to live in my home?
Pizza and Valentines
Share the love with family and friends during a Valentine’s Day-themed pizza party at The Arc of Spokane! This event is free and party goers are invited to make and exchange hand-crafted valentines. This is not a drop off event, individuals with care need are asked to bring support. All ages welcome!
