Guardianship Workshop November 16

  • The Arc of Spokane 320 E. Second Avenue Spokane, WA (map)

Learn all about guardianship at a free workshop over Zoom on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 from 3 -5 p.m.

Many people think that guardianship is the best way to help adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities make important decisions, but the truth is that guardianship is often not necessary. In fact, Washington State’s guardianship law requires considering alternatives to guardianship first.

Attorney Jonas Hemenway from Gravis Law is ready to take your questions about guardianship and supported decision-making alternatives to guardianship including but not limited to:

• Informed consent

• Representative Payees

• Joint bank accounts

• Special needs trusts

• Power of attorney

• Limited vs. full guardianship

• Guardianship of the estate vs. guardianship of the person.

This online workshop will also provide basic instructions on how you can apply for guardianship on your own and where you can reach out for legal assistance.

A Zoom link will be sent to you after registering for the event. Questions?
