SPOKANE PARKS & RECREATION THERAPEUTIC RECREATION SERVICES (TRS)
Spokane Parks and Recreation’s Therapeutic Recreation Services (TRS) provides enjoyable specialized and adaptive recreational activities for individuals with disabilities. Their purpose is to create positive experiences that develop appropriate leisure and social skills in participants. By developing these skills, participants can become increasingly self-confident, courageous, and independent. TRS serves a broad range of people with developmental and/or physical disabilities, ages 6-99.
Staff are unable to provide personal care, and caregivers are encouraged to accompany participants who need personal care and behavioral assistance. Fees are waived or reduced when possible. Scholarships are available on a case-by-case basis.

THE ARC OF SPOKANE
The Arc of Spokane provides a variety of opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to engage in the Spokane community.
TRANSITION & YOUNG ADULT PROGRAMS (TYAP)
Transition & Young Adult Programs (TYAP) prepare young people (14-21) for their transition out of high school and into adulthood. TYAP has Adulting 101 skills classes, career readiness programs, mentoring programs, and plenty of social opportunities and events. COMMUNITY CENTER
The Arc’s Community Center is a hub of activities for adults with IDD. The center offers computer classes, arts and crafts, monthly dances, and community outings. Click here for more information or call The Arc at (509) 328-6326.
VIRTUAL PROGRAM LIBRARY
The Arc’s Virtual Program Library allows people with IDD and their caregivers to find and share on-demand activities that they can use whenever it is convenient for them in the comfort of their own homes. Service providers can also find and share resources that they can use to facilitate or deliver live, remote programming for people with IDD. Click here for the virtual access library.
AUTISM SOCIETY OF WASHINGTON
The Autism Society of Washington promotes lifelong community access through family support, public awareness, advocacy, and collaboration with community partners. Their events are designed for socialization and friendship and include sensory friendly movies, bowling, art activities, picnics, etc.

SIDE BY SIDE
Side by Side brings people with and without disabilities together to do fun things in the community such as bike riding, walking, basketball, water rafting, field trips to local farms, prayer groups, home gatherings, etc. Side by Side connects people to one another for friendship and support.

PROJECT ID
Project ID, often referred to as “The Wolf Den,” hosts bingo, dances, and tons of other events! Project ID even offers a year-round Spokane’s Wolfpack Special Olympics Team. Project ID normally offers basketball in the fall, T-ball and baseball in the summer, bowling in the winter, and soccer and track and field during the spring. There is always something going on and ways to participate or volunteer.

AMC THEATERS
AMC Theaters offers a sensory friendly film program. AMC turns the lights up and the sound down so you can get up, dance, walk, shout, or sing. Family-friendly movies are shown on the second and fourth Saturday and movies for mature audiences are shown on Wednesday evenings of every month.

ISAAC’S CLUBHOUSE
ISAAC’s Clubhouse, a program of The ISAAC Foundation, is designed to be a safe place for kids on the autism spectrum in 6-12th grade to congregate, explore interests, and make connections with others in their community. The clubhouse is open for drop-in engagement opportunities from 4-6 PM every other Wednesday throughout the school year (September-May).

SPOKANE COUNTY LIBRARY DISTRICT
The Spokane County Library District has a variety of clubs and one-time classes that meet at the library branches, including seasonal crafts, game nights, how-to production, and 3D printing. All events are free and open to the public.
