The Arc of Spokane provides a wide variety of services for the estimated 6,700 people in Spokane County with developmental disabilities and their families. Click the links below to learn more about each program.
Advocacy The Arc advocates for people with developmental disabilities in the community and on an individual basis. In the community, we work with local, state and national leaders to improve public policy. Individually, we help people with developmental disabilities manage the challenges they sometimes face while living and working independently in our community. Constituents: 6,700
Family Support The Arc's Family Support programs offer information, direction, and encouragement to parents, guardians, siblings, senior parents and other family members working through the challenges of caring for a family member with a developmental disability. Constituents: 500 - 1,000 per year
The Family Support 360 Center The Arc's Family Support 360 Center helps families supporting a person with a developmental disability by encouraging access to programs in the community that can meet a variety of needs, including housing, employment, food, health care, childcare and more. Clients: 360 in five years.
The Arc Community Center Our community center gives adults with developmental disabilities a place where they can enjoy the company of friends, learn important life-skills or a new craft and enjoy new experiences in the community. Members: 125
Supported Employment The Arc helps people with developmental disabilities find steady employment that suits their needs and abilities, ensuring greater independence and the satsifaction of self-sustainability. Clients: 78
People to People provides meaningful work experience for adults with developmental disabilities who may not yet have the skills necessary for a full-time job. Community Access provides social and recreational experiences for people with developmental disabilities who are of retirement age. Clients: 44
Financial Management The Arc's financial management counselors help people with developmental disabilities manage their money through bill-payment services. Clients: 528
Home Ownership Opportunities The Arc's Home Ownership Opportunities program helps people with developmental disabilities and their families buy homes of their own, ensuring greater independence, social stability and long-term financial security. Clients: 53 since inception (2004)
The Partnership People with developmental disabilities are more likely to be sexually abused than people without disabilities. The Partnership helps prevent sexual abuse through a program of education targeting individuals, families, care providers and the community. Clients: 300
Residential Support The Arc's community living program provides round-the-clock support for adult men and women with developmental disabilities who live in private homes throughout Spokane. Our Residential Support program offers greater independence and the chance to build meaningful relationships in the community. Clients: 43
