Ward Ray Cuts Ribbon at Kohl's Store Opening

Flashing cameras, speeches, and a giant pair of scissors marked the grand opening of a new Kohl's store at Spokane's Northtown Mall on October 3, 2007. Ward Ray, a constituent of The Arc of Spokane's Individual Supported Employment program, was nominated by his fellow employees for the honor of cutting the ribbon. After the ceremony, Ward posed for photos with the store manager, a representative from Greater Spokane Incorporated and other dignitaries. Ray works in the store's housekeeping department. 

After their home was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in 2006, Ward and his family moved to Spokane to stay with relatives. Now that they've settled, Ward's family plans to live in the Inland Northwest permanently.
