Longtime Arc Boardmember Doris Tryon Retires

After serving vigorously for more than 35 years, Doris Tryon has announced her retirement from The Arc of Spokane's board of directors. About 30 fellow board members, friends and well-wishers gathered to honor her tremendous contribution to The Arc at a reception on October 23, 2007. Doris was one of Spokane's most dedicated and active advocates for people with developmental disabilities.

Drawn to The Arc's mission in part by her daughter Nelle, Doris' experience as an activist and board member benefited The Arc and people with special needs in our community for decades. Her understanding of people, the issues central to our mission and the history of The Arc in Spokane and Washington State was invaluable. We will miss her wisdom and delightful wit. Doris plans to resettle with family in Utah.
